1921 Civic census was last census, was carried out based on cast. Vaishy population in that was as follows:

Note:

  1. Population of Kalwars were considered separately as Sat Shudra.
  2. All Vaishy in Provinces in Item no. 6 were considered as Sat Shudra.
  3. There were three part of Shudra
    1. Sat Shudra: Brahmin can have meal in their home.
    2. Asat Shudra: Brahmin can touch them but couldn't drink water touched by them.
    3. Ati shudra: Un-touchable.

Population of Sat shudra in Bengal Aahata was 1,95,53,136. It includes many casts. If we consider only 10% of above as Vaishy the Vaishy population in this province was approx. 19.55 lakhs. Including this the total Vaishy population was 112 lakhs (92.41+19.55) out of 290 lakhs the total population of India at that time i.e. 6.75%.

As per un-authenticated sources, at present there are about 20 lakhs Kesarwanies in UP, MP, Bihar & Maharasthra, about 0.2% of overall population. As per internal Census, 9.28 lakhs Kesarwanies are only in Uttar Pradesh.

In best of our knowledge, Kesarwani Vaishy Shabha is doing Census & collecting the various statistics required to chalk-out the strategies for development of our Kesarwani Samaj.
