Shri Nand Gopal Gupta "Nandi"
Shri Nand Gopal Gupta alias Nandi is the Cabinet Minister for Institutional Finance, Stamp & Judicial Tax in U.P. Lagislative Assembly (2007- ).
He created history in the young age of just 33 years, becoming the first Kesarwani candidate in Uttar Pradesh Legislative assembly. Coming from middle class family, he crossed many obstacles to reach this eminence & is a self made man
First timer Mr. Nandi, the BSP's candidate from Allahabad South constituency had two bigwigs as his opponent. From the Congress, Rita Bahuguna Joshi - she has been a Mayor and daughter of the legendary H.N. Bahuguna, and from the BJP, Kesri Nath Tripathi - State president of the party and former Vidhan Sabha Speaker, who has held this seat five times.
Out of total 272613 voters in the constituency only 34.37% had used their voting rights & elected Mr. Nandi as their representative from total 23 contestants. Shri Nand Gopal Gupta got 34,939 votes (37.29%) against 20,129 votes (21.48%) by Shri Keshri Nath Triphathi, 18,494 (19.74%) by Rita Bahuguna Joshi & 15,055 votes (16.07%) by Jamonotri Gupta respectively. None of other 19 candidates could cross even the 1000 votes mark.
