
Historian Late Shri Khiran Chandra Shaha
(1886 - 1972)
Shri Khiran Chandra Shaha belonged to a land-owning family of Berhampore in Murshidabad district of West Bengal. His father was Shri Narayan Chandra Shaha and mother was Srimati Dhrupadi Devi, who had originally migrated from Brahmganj. He married Srimati Shibani Devi.
The family later shifted to Barrackpore and subsequently to Calcutta.
It was in Calcutta that Shri Khiran Chandra Shaha spent a major portion of his life devoting himself to the upliftment of Kesarwani community and tracing its history. He was instrumental in transforming the Kesarwani Samaj in Calcutta into a working organization during his tenure as president of the samaj.
As an altruist, he helped many individuals of the community to get established in society.
As a keen historian, he did extensive research on the origin of Kesarwanis and the deciphering of the "Baans". It was due to his efforts that the community could trace its origin to Babylon and its identity as "Kasr-wanis" that is "Traders of Kesar".
His son Late Shri Gitendra Kumar Saha was a great magician & was popularly known as Jaadu Guru Mystic Kumar.
