He was born on 23/04/1974 in a lower middle class family of a postman. Nandi is
younger to a sister and older to two sisters and a brother, in his family. After
the demise of her elder sister, being the elder in his siblings, he was forced to
look after his family of 07 members i.e. in his very young age of 15-16 years. The
combatant spirit, never accepting defeat, recalcitrant, boyhood, big dreams, and
rocky intentions were the only capital young Nandi has.
Selling cracker and colours on the road side, selling house made polythene from
door to door and shop to shop, making sweets in sweets shop, he was working very
hard for his living. Although, the trade was small but his honesty and hard work,
keeping the promise and commitment was the biggest capital & character of Nandi.
His sincerity on trade made his reputation growing. He always revered the seniors
and is a source of inspiration for youngsters given the fact that to earn his livelihood
Nandi used to run video shows in the neighborhood. It was later when he entered
the wholesale business of atta (flour) and opened a departmental store, with that
his financial status witnessed an upswing. Also, slowly but steadily climbing him
on the ladder of success. After understanding the tricks of trade he started moving
forward rapidly and established many firms viz. Nandi Rice mill, Nandi Brand bricks,
Nandi brand steel, match boxes, ghee and agarbatti factory, Janvi sales, Abhinav
Trading company etc., with offices located in as far as Mumbai and factories in
Uttarakhand. He is also the Managing Director of Nandi Ram’s Industries Limited.
After running these companies successfully, he moved toward social life – every
one found Nandi as his colleague. Now Nandi was seen in every social, religious
and cultural events. A man of simple habits, Nandi is a familiar face in every nook
and corner of the city. He never shied from admitting his humble background. Grown
in poor environment, he always looked to help poor people, secretly helped poor
girls in their marriage, donated funds to NGO’s and suddenly he stepped into politics,
where everything depend upon circumstances.
When “Nandi” decided to contest for MLA in U.P. Vidhan Sabha election-2007, it was
a big question in everybody’s mind, including Nandi himself; that whether people
of Allahabad will accept him as a Politician, their leader? Bahujan Samaj Party
was also looking for this answer. Although the way was thorny and the opposition
was very strong, but the simple and pure image of BSP’s nominated Nandi helped him
and finally he won. On 11th May 2007, history had been made in Political records.
Nandi is married to Abhilasha Gupta on 1st of May 1994 and have three wonderful
kids, two boys and a sweet little girl. Famous with the name of “Nandi” in whole
state is everybody favourite .He not only loved by his friends but also with his
competitors. Even his enemies respect him and want to sit and talk to him. With
years of hard work and going through the thorny way to achieve a bright throne is
very rare in this world. Surely Nandi is one of them and an inspiration to next
generations.
