Nishant Gupta’s demonstrative style of combining traditional repertoire with
a contemporary stance has been noticed and appreciated by a wide range of admirers.
He combines subtle body movements with lightning footwork, rhythmic circles with
nimble finger mudras, volatile yet controlled experssions.
Nishant's early training began with Guru Munindra Mishra at Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh
during 1992-94. He then moved to Shri Ram Bhartiya Kala Kendra, New Delhi (1998-2005),
where he was trained in Kathak under Guru Shikha Khare.
He obtained First Division in Visharad from Bhatkhande Vidyapeeth in Lucknow (2002)
and topped that along wih a Post Diploma with the highest grade from Shri Ram Bhartiya
Kala Kendra (2005). These abilities have taken him from Delhi to Allahabad, Lucknow,
Chandigarh, Pune, Bokaro, Bhopal and Jaipur in a wide ranging series of performances
and his invitations continue to grow.
Recently he went to China with the World Peace Art Festival and soon, will be on
his way to Japan, Mongolia and Egypt.
In Delhi itself, he had performed in front of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Ex-Prime
Minister of India, at Shri Ram Bhartiya Kala Kendra on the World Dance Day Festival
at the Doordarshan Bharti on the occasion of Holi for Doordarshan-1 and many others.
Nishant has also been the recipient of various awards including a National Scholarship
from the Department of Culture - Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government
of India. First prize in Kathak from Akashwani - All India Radio, Shahdol and first
prize in many other competitions.
With all these achievements, Nishant is poised to move forward with his dance career
that has so successfully taken off, as reflected by several cities.
